About Ipamorelin
Ipamorelin is a pentapeptide, Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂, developed by Novo Nordisk in the 1990s from the GHRP family of growth hormone-releasing peptides. It activates the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a), the receptor for the hormone ghrelin.
In the original animal studies it released growth hormone without the rises in ACTH and cortisol seen with earlier GHRPs such as GHRP-6 and GHRP-2, which is why it was described as the first selective growth hormone secretagogue.
