About GHRP-6
GHRP-6, His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂, was one of the first synthetic growth hormone-releasing peptides, derived by Cyril Bowers and colleagues from modified enkephalin structures.
Its activity on the pituitary and hypothalamus pointed to a then-unknown receptor, later cloned as the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R1a) and matched in 1999 to the stomach hormone ghrelin.
