About Gonadorelin (GnRH)
Gonadorelin has the same sequence as natural mammalian GnRH: pGlu-His-Trp-Ser-Tyr-Gly-Leu-Arg-Pro-Gly-NH₂. Secreted in pulses by hypothalamic neurons, GnRH acts on pituitary gonadotrophs to release luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone.
The pulsatile pattern matters: intermittent exposure stimulates the GnRH receptor, whereas continuous exposure desensitizes it. Long-acting GnRH agonists such as leuprolide were developed by modifying this sequence.
