About B7-33
Native human relaxin-2 is a two-chain peptide hormone held together by disulfide bonds, which makes it difficult to synthesize. B7-33, reported in 2016 by Hossain and colleagues, is a single-chain peptide based on residues 7–33 of the relaxin-2 B-chain.
It activates the relaxin receptor RXFP1 with a biased profile, favoring pERK1/2 signaling and induction of the collagen-degrading enzyme MMP-2 over cAMP signaling, particularly in cells that express RXFP1 natively.
