About IGF-1 LR3
IGF-1 LR3 is a modified form of insulin-like growth factor 1. Glutamic acid at position 3 is replaced by arginine, the “R3”, and a 13-amino-acid extension is added at the N-terminus, the “Long”, giving 83 amino acids instead of 70.
These changes sharply reduce binding to IGF-binding proteins, which normally sequester IGF-1. More of the molecule stays free to activate the IGF-1 receptor, so it is more potent than native IGF-1 in many in vitro systems.
